Yesterday, I met someone in Sacramento who was coming from Davis to buy something from me. It's a bit of a drive, but I love detecting Sacramento for its rich history, and rarely go home feeling like it was a waste of time.
My detecting buddy and I hit an old school in the area, and I was at first a bit disappointed because all I was finding was pennies and dimes. I wanted to get back home, but my buddy convinced me to stay another half hour and detect the ball field, and I'm glad he did!
I got an iffy signal on the field that bounced between 82 and 95 on my Deus, and it was deep. Pulling the plug up and excavating the dirt rewarded me with a beautiful war nickel! Putting my pointer back into the hole, just in case, led to two more signals: a 1952 penny and a 1946 penny. Oldest coin spill! Whoop!
I also found my oldest dog license, to date. It looks to me to be a 1961 tag, and I'm quite happy with it!
