I have been so impressed with the 5x8 in the curbstrips lately, that I haven't put the big coil on for a long time. I decided to change it up. Connected the NEL THUNDER and went deep seeking in an old baseball field. We've had some moisture lately and the ground was just right for digging. The signals were few and far between compared to the curbstrips, but it was fun to listen deep for the fainter signals. This field has a deep layer of dirt that dates to the 1940's. all the wheats and 40s coins were 6+ inches down. Nice '45 Merc and a slick '41 GW. Even nailed a few deep nickels. Thanks for looking.

Nice finds! I agree with you that the recent rains have helped the finds. I made 11 wheats and a merc last week on 8th east. It really surprised me. But I haven't found a silver GW all year. Still looking

Works like that here only I use the CTX with the 17 in. coil. Love hearing those faint, deep sounds. Then unearthing some long lost treasure. Congrats Tyler on the Merc, the GW and the Wheat's. Trapper

11 wheats and a merc is a good day for sure. Love when the soil is just wet enough for the plugs to stay together nice. I've been keeping an eye out for you roaming the streets of Salt Lake. Drove by the Church of Scientology the other day and decided not to stop. Didnt you say they ran you off "their" curbstrip?

Thanks! I still have a lot to learn, but there's something magical about that faint (but repeatable) high tone that just hits in the center of that big coil. Kinda like gettin' dealt AA.

Stiffwrists, Yes, I was told to get off 'their' curbstrip unless I 'came in' and asked permission. I left. I saw the PM, but something has blocked it on my computer. I'm really poor at IT stuff.
I haven't been hunting as much lately due to a recent back injury, but look for the old guy with the NOX during working hours. I try to stay low profile. The downtown festivals, parade and farmers market produced over $200 in clad since 7/1, along with a dozen silver jewelry/coins. I haven't found any gold this year.
I'm impressed with your silver coin finds. The few I've found this year have been a real surprise and not where I thought they would show up. I don't want to hijack your thread. Great finds! it's obvious that you have a good eye for places to hunt and great skill to find the good stuff. I'll see you on a curbstrip somewhere.
