Found this two piece button at an old home site from early 1800's. Found an eagle button at the same place a few weeks ago. Back mark is "scovill mfg co watterbury conn". Has some gold gilt peaking through.
I've been googling like crazy, but can not find any similar examples. maybe just an old blazer button? I can not really make out the letters of the script. I see "m" or "pr", "dr" etc. I could be looking at the orientation incorrectly.
