Hello,
Well it has finally rained here in central Texas and I got out a couple of times. It has been brutal lately with no measurable rain fall since late April.
The old church keeps producing good finds even although there are no longer any high tones left.
There is a section that is EXTREMELY trashy and iron infested, so I took the NOX out and set it up for these conditions looking for ANY good tones.
I ended up with a 1895 IHP and a 1905 V in pretty good condition. Also eeked out a wheat.
I went back on Tuesday and found several old shotgun brass, a live .32 pistol round and one very interesting coin object.
The signal was a solid 11,12 on the NOX, so I decided to dig it thinking it may be a nickel.
At first, it looked like a very small coin, but it was not a coin.
It was a Apothecary weight for measuring out drugs.
Half Drachm 3 ss.
Has anyone have any idea how old it its?
Should I list on the "ID finds forum?"
Anyway, I took the CTX with the 17" today out to the golf course and ended up with some clad, a putter and a very nice 43D merc before I almost died of heat stroke.
I hate summer!
HH!
