Harsh reality came over me today. It's getting darker earlier and earlier. Yeh this is a no brainer:laughing:...but it is cutting into my detecting time:(. For some reason that just dawned on me today. Usually I'll head to my local park after work and dinner, around 5:30-6:00 and hunt for an hour or 2. The park closes at dusk so that means I'm not going to have a chance to hit it in the evenings. Hate to see the time change...Really cutting into my schedule...LOL

When does daylight savings time kick in?
wish they'd set the clock back now.

you gotta dig fast this time of year, as the season is winding down.:(
All holes matter.

I just did an online search and it said -

Nov 5, 2017 - Daylight Saving Time Ends

(you turn clocks back one hour)

Looks like the weekends are going to be the prime time to hunt. I just need to find some permissions...LOL. I'm not above hunting in the dark...headlamp and flashlight and off ya go....Just need to find and nice place....Good news is that it's at least its cooling down a bit now....

I’m kind of lucky in this regard. I work nights so I always detect in the mornings.

Let an old guy share some thoughts concerning our short time on this Planet seeking treasure...Especially since the World is so big and these coils are so small! In this regards,

'A Job often proves to be a temporary and unprofitable nuisance'...'Wealth is no respector of effort or intelligence'...'A week after you are dead, your yard will need to be mowed by someone else'...

Yeah, there are too many places I hunt that don't have rigid hours, but instead use 'dusk and dawn'. As the great die off occurs and things like ticks and poison ivy/ground vegetation dies, I will head to the woods where I need not worry about dusk/dawn.

What? Your parks close? :wow:

That's when you have to find non-park sites to hunt after sunset.

The likely reason for that rule is they figure some people wanting to be in a park after dark might be up to no good.

I live in BC rain now until next season ugggg, I may try magnet fishing though my wife is not too happy I took the micro wave apart he he he

ps discharge the 800volt capacitor first if you want to carry on.

Sunrise to Sunset is so vague. The sun is always shining somewhere. Queue Tom.

Since the sun is a stationary object, how can it truly possibly ever rise? And if it does rise, then why do we call it "sunset" and not "sunfall"? It's isolated by a bazillion gillion miles and has no chance of "setting" on anything. The closest thing to it is Mercury, and if it attempted to sit on that it would undoubtedly squash it in a nanosecond.

Thanks for sharing that, I have an old broken microwave sitting outside waiting for when I take it to the local place that takes such stuff, but Ill see about removing the magnets first.

update to add: bummer, it is an old broken air conditioner I have sitting outside, I must have been thinking of the microwave I threw away a few years ago.

I did a search and found this link on taking apart a microwave (there are youtube videos you can find also)

....and yes, good point about discharging the capacitor first !

Darn it!!!!! just tossed a micorwave a few weeks back. Then again the wife did basically escort me with it to the curb to make sure it did not go down the basement with the rest of my treasures.

Re magnet please research first if the magnet and other parts are safe...I do not know, except to discharge cap.

Discharging the capacitor is the main safety thing, but once you take the magnets out I would be careful to keep them away from any electronics, especially computer hard drives !

Edit to add: it should go without saying, but obviously make sure the microwave is unplugged before opening up and discharging the capacitor prior to taking it apart to get the magnets out.

:laughing::laughing::laughing:

I can definitely relate. I have to try hard on keeping the clutter down to keep my wife happy, it just seems that so many different do-dads might come in handy for various projects
