I had a great day today and need help with a Gold Hallmark please.
The house site dates from the early 1820's.

Awesome ring. That is nice and early for sure. Id guess around 1800. If it was any earlier it would likely have no makers mark. Called a posy ring and a super rare find. Congrats

Just someone phonetically spelling that in 1800's?

May virtue join your heart and mine.

Back then spelling was a lot more fluid than it is now and yes, a lot of the spelling was phonetic. Even names were often spelled in several variations, words were spelled as they sounded depending on a person's accent too, and English spellings were also common at the time.
