Sunday's hunt turned up a lot of clad worth $17.90 and a 1954 silver Roosevelt dime. Found a Chinese coin that has the usual Chinese lettering and written in English it says "Silver Coin". My reference book on foreign coins says it was minted sometime between 1903 and 1910, is 90% silver, and has a retail value of somewhere between $50 and $400 depending on grade. BUT....it also said that there are many counterfeits out there and I suspect that this may be one of them. The edge milling is sharp like on a genuine coin but the rim is uneven, it doesn't seem to have the color of silver, and when I weighed it, it came up 6 grams short. I'm pretty sure that it's a fake. Still a good hunt nonetheless.

Congrats on a great clad haul!

Even if the Chinese coin is fake, it's still a good find.

I agree with Ron 71, it is still a good find. It probably is a counterfeit since 90% silver would be gleaming silver not all nasty and tarnished like this. Was probably silver plated copper. Still a cool find!
