Had some good outings the last few days - I'll spare you all the details, but after locating an old 1805 site in the pouring rain and not having much luck, I headed home along the old cart road to get out there and dug this interesting Victorian piece near an old masoned stream crossing. Turns out to be a woman's watch fob, mid to late 1800's. The underside of the pendant, in this case a daffodil, apparently sometimes doubled as a wax seal stamp...

Then, back at my house, I was hunting an area between where the barn used to stand on our property and the main road, and finally got a good tone... Very pleased to see this Civil War Navy coat button pop out of the hole - second CW button from our property and third military button... very cool.

Happy Hunting, BB

Great Old Button,
Have u researched your property? Looks like u don't need to go far!

Oh definitely - it's an amazing property - an 1830's house - Son of the man who built it was a Cavalry officer in teh Civil War... http://metaldetectingforum.com/showthread.php?t=111803

There have been some really great coins (http://metaldetectingforum.com/showthread.php?t=93244) and relics found in the yard and the woods surrounding... I'm very lucky to have such a spot right outside my door... Hunting has slowed because I have pounded it, but it still gives up a nice item here and there...
