How do people use headphones? They always get in the way when I try to use them..

Nvm.. I think it was just the gold digger having bad aux jack placement, the tracker IV has a thicker looking aux jack and better location.. how do you delete a post :(

I have a key ring attached to the bottom of my finds pouch that I thread the headphone wire through. Being coiled it stays in place out of the way.

When I first started I couldnt stand the inconvenience of headphones , but its a state of mind , something you get used to and are always aware of. After a while its just second nature to make accomodations for the headphones and cord , you dont really even have to think about it.

I do get my cord tangled on my pinpointer sometimes and OFTEN my digger when setting it down right on top of the cord. but I tend to when pin pointing pulling One ear askew so I can hear the pin pointer.. I know it vibrates but I like to hear the tone too.

You will get used to putting the detector down a little behind you and at a angle to keep the cord out of your way.. Have the cord on your headphone on the same side as the detector

I gave headphones a worthy effort, but they drove me nuts. On warms days they made me sweat. When on my knees digging and looking down at the hole they continually tried to slide forward. My fix was to use ‘sport earbuds’ that hook behind the ear. They stay in place. I routed their wire to a volume control banded to the Hori knife sheath on my belt, and from there to the detector via a 10’ [stretched] coil cord. It all works like a charm with freedom of movement, no binding or pulling, no sweat, and it wasn’t very spendy.

Maybe I'll get fancy and Velcro the volume control to the sheath.

Where did you find the volume control?

Other than Amazon, the unit appears to be available from many sources around the net, including eBay. Apparently, it has been previously sold with a short length of cable, but my purchase did not include that. The pot seems to be of good quality with a solid and smooth feel, ample attenuation range and no static. There is also some info about the VolBox on Youtube.
