Found a VERY toasted SLQ buried deep in black muck. Almost tossed it into the recycling bin but happily took a second and third look at it.

Would like to get a little luster back on it so it looks a bit more like silver. Any suggestions?

Toothpaste and baking soda mixture? Lemon juice? Dremel? Many different routes you can take here chip, please keep us posted! Love those standers! Congrats!

you can try mixing some boiling water, salt, and baking soda then wrap it all in aluminun foil for 10-15 minutes. Smells like rotten eggs but may clean it up some for ya. Never tried it on a coin that toasted though.

I think it's great that everyone has their own recipe to clean stuff. I plan on trying some of these on my future crusty silvers. Most of my silver coins are completely black because they come from salt water.

I usually make a paste with warm water and baking soda and gently rub it until the shine comes back. On the really dark coins you may have to do it twice.
