I found this nice Eagle button today about 6 inches down close to a big tree. Can anyone tell what era this button would be from? I'm pretty sure it's Civil War.

It certainly is the exact button worn by Invading troops in blue. They were worn before the war. If you can read the backmark it may help date it more exactly. If you are in an area where troops were, than I would definitely call it civil war. Now we need to know what else is there.

Yes troops were in the area. I also found a US box plate and harmonica reed in a different part of the yard in the same hole.

Congrats on the enlisted union civil war button . A nice one to boot. Hunt that area for more relics their should be more items to find. HH
