It's my first decent hunt of the year, and what a hunt it was!

My son was in his Jiujitsu class, so I went out to find a good place to hunt. There is a storied section of land that I targeted this morning. I had found a V nickel on another part of the property a few months ago, and decided I'd hunt a section that is a little harder to get to. I'm glad I did!

My first find was an old boat plane toy. No plastic on this baby, so I know it's old! Does anyone know what kind of toy it is?

I found a few more bits of stuff, and determined that I would go back after I picked up my son. I had a quick lunch, called my hunting buddy over, and we hit the property, again. We started at a closer section than I hunted before lunch, and I'm glad we did! I found a 1901 V nickel right away! Shortly after that I found the spike you see in the pic (it tapers more than a railroad spike normally would, so I'm curious to know it's original purpose), and my last find in the quick hunt (we were there for only about an hour) was a beautiful 1907 S Barber dime!

Woohoo, what a day!

Nice! The airplane is probably a Dinky or Midge Toy..
Thank you, bmattioli! I looked, but only found one image of this plane on a site, and they had no information on who the maker was. They said it was lead, and that may be, given that it rang up higher than I expected it to. I'll have to check it out, again...

Congrats! Man the plane, barber and V are sweet finds Diggum! I’m Jello!
Thanks, GS! We need to get out! You, too, could find these goodies!

Nice find and great condition, congrats
Merci, MuddyMo!

Can’t even imagine finding a barber or a V, let alone those seateds you found at the old hotel site. Bravo man... bravo!
Thanks, GS, but you've got the machine to do it! You just need to quit wasting your time on all that gold and silver jewelry that you find, and hit some of the older spots.

Your soil was kind to that V nickel and barber !
Agreed! Nickels are usually pretty wasted, but this area is pretty good to them. And not a lot of sulfur staining on the dime, either! Oh, and your 30% is in the mail, Tom... :hi5:
