Last weekend I dug my oldest coin, an 1880 IH penny. Well today after work I got the itch and back to the farm I went. Along the side of what used to be a wagon road a half mile back in the woods, I shattered that record. An 1832 half cent. And a couple of other interesting finds thrown into the mix. I’ll be scouring this place for years.

1832 half cent
Belt buckle of some kind
Brass/copper tag of some kind

Aarrgghh. An east coast half cent . That's even more disgusting than east coast LCs ! I've never found a half cent. Sick sick sick . :sissyfight:

( hey, but at least I correctly predicted the future when I said you would be going older very soon, eh  )

A half cent and those buckles? Those are eye poppers in my book! Congrats and keep grinding on that permission!

Awesome save, congrats. Would love to find a half cent. It will be interesting to see what else that area gives up. Good luck, Mark

Buckle

That buckle could be special You should look into that!

You think so? Here are some detail views of the buckle. I’ll see where the discussion goes. I can’t see any writing or anything but it does have a nice shape to it. Thanks

Great little hunt. I dug my 2nd 3rd and 4th oldest coin coins in the last 3 weeks. An 1888 ihp 1900 ihp then I think an 1892 ihp. All in the same yard. Haven't touched the backyard yet. Hoping to find one older than my 1868 two cent piece out of this yard.

Nice finds! Sounds like a great location, and the backyard left to do, you’ve got good odds you might find it there!

The farm I’ve been hunting is over 50 acres so the hard part is where to look. My approach has been to rough everything out, front yard/ back yard digging everything and then go back over it with a faster hand and more sensitive settings. But I haven’t even looked in some areas including an old ( pre- 1850) foundation.

The real fun will be when they cut down the fields this fall :D
