Default Out & about in the English countryside.

All the crops are now in and most of the straw is now baled so the it's time to hit the fields.

Thanks for looking...........Doug.

The sunken road field/track going from left to right across the field. Possible drovers track.


12th century church.


Assortment of finds, lead tobacco jar lid top right.


Various projectiles.


Bottom right (3) clog/boot/shoe fasteners.


Various coins and one token.



Cut silver quarter.


Cut silver half.


Victoria silver 3 pence.


Edward 3rd 1327-77 Edward 1st 1272-1307




Cut quarter and half.


3rd/4th century broken Roman brooch.



Lead trade weight. Capital T going through a 'Tun'.

Definition of a Tun: A large cask for holding liquids, especially wine, ale, or beer.

Awesome finds Doug! I always thought those shoe/boot fasteners may have been old chainsaw teeth learn something new everyday, thanks for sharing!

Amazing finds! I spent 16 wonderful days at Fairford Air Base and it is scenic like your photos of the countryside. Congrats on the discoveries and thanks for sharing.

This one of the Air Days I went to at RAF Fairford a few years ago.

This is the RAF's C130 replacement, The Atlas.

I took the photograph with the aircraft on finals and close to touch down.
