A rare set of four "Hipposandals" were recently found at an archeological site in England. Used by Romans to protect horse's feet, the set has been dated to between 140-180A.D.

Literally LOL’d.

Right? I bet my Mother In Law has worn a pair of those! Vintage Versace!!

She is one mean old filly, will bite, kick, !!!! all over the place...Shes going on @ 857yrs old...thats in Horses years of course, not sure about Roman?...

Its been a hell of a lot longer in Human 'Son In Law' years I can tell you though, probably mid century Gregorian as far as I'm concerned, Shes been busting my balz with her iron hoofs since the Ming Dynasty at least!...my poor pills have been ground to a powder between her an her high spirited female colt...makes sense now, iron Son In Law ball bussing slip ons!...I thought they were some sort of decorative 'Jack be Nimble' Christmas candle holders...like from Pier One or something...?

"Hippo sandals" makes complete sense..seeings how hippos are very deadly and dangerous..plus fat, and !!!! all over the place of course...

WTH! Nails not yet invented?
Actually, they were nailing shoes on back then too, but the skill required to do so wasn't widespread. The hipposandals didn't require any special skill to apply.

BTW, hippo is latin for horse. Hippopotamus translates to "river horse".
