I know this is small news but I believe I found a 1985 copper penny. I kept putting it in with my other copper pennies, checked the date, and would take it out. It has the right color and sound for a copper penny but is 3 years late. I did a search and there are rare 1985 non zinc coppers. Is there any way to tell for sure? I don't exactly trust my inexperienced observations yet. Thanks.

I know the info is on the web, but I would think that a copper penny would weigh differently than a zinc penny.

find somebody with an etrac zinc and copper pennys have a completely different sound

Copper: 3.1, Zinc: 2.8 (grams, that is).

Ace 250 shows zinc and copper too. Guess I need to invest in a gram scale. Harbor freight has a decent one for a low price right?
