Is it really from 1931? Would you please explain? Thanks

I know it's difficult to photograph ring hallmarks.

Looking at the outline of the 'box' with the straight edge on the top with the ends sloping downwards to me it looks like 1931?

Your thoughts?

Are you looking at the far right symbol? The tail looks more like '56. If you look at the outline though it doesn't look like either. How much does the outline matter?

Cliff. The letter is the number one clue and the shape of the box it is in second clue.

I did it the other way round and tried to match up the box first assuming it was a 'G'.

The OP may want to confirm it is which of the two G's from the photograph I put up?

I don't know much about hallmarks but I wouldn't mind a bit more knowledge. I'm sure it's easier if you have a complete list of them.

Surprising what you come across when researching hallmarks.

"The Date Letter – optional.

Until 1999 the date letter was compulsory. This is no longer the case, but it can be applied voluntarily in addition to the compulsory marks. The date letter changes once a year on January 1st."

I have more clues on this mystery ring, found a “handwritten “ mark “0.32” next to the hallmarks. Also I am posting another picture hoping to you guys can see better. All of this is fascinating, I am loving it!!!

032 could be a stock number?

Late over this side of the pond will look at it again tomorrow.

The date letter looks to be a mixture of 1931 & 1956?
