You can't make this stuff up

https://www.cnet.com/news/facebook-is-using-ai-to-scan-your-posts-for-suicidal-thoughts/

If you're going through a difficult time, Facebook wants to help. Its artificial intelligence software can now use pattern recognition to scan Facebook posts and live videos for suicidal thoughts. Once the technology has identified a problem post through what the company calls proactive detection, it alerts a team of human moderators who specialize in dealing with suicide and self harm. These specialists can send mental health resources to the user at risk or to that person's friends and alert the authorities if necessary. The program could flag problem posts before users report them, accelerating the alert process. Help could be sent to people in real time.

OMG! I thought this place was facebook! Anybody wanna see what I had for dinner last night? It had a lot of peppers in it, so I'm sure I will be having suicidal thoughts momentarily...they will be passing of course, no need to be alarmed or send help or encouragement.....I just hope I dont wake the dog!.

I'm probably one of the few that find this cool.

Back in the 80's one of my hobbies was programming. In fact I was, still am, an MSISV (Microsoft Independent Software Vendor) which meant MS would make available new software technology to us programmers and we would write programs and release the new technology and what it can do. When MS first released the MSAGENT, which was a basic voice recognition base, I wrote a few apps and some started using video for input as well. I had a lot of fun and was able to see what the future would bring. It's coming.

I'm not surprised with Facebooks use other than making it of public knowledge. They've been using it a long time. It is the future guy's so get used to it. Public Computers and video/Microphones monitor our moves at most large location now and alert security to anomalies garnered from Movements, voice and yes facial expressions.

Here at the hospital I am working right now to convert our PC's to use facial recognition to authenticate users instead of them having to login manually. They just walk up to a PC and it will log them in and grant access to the appropriate applications. I find it amazing stuff. Scares the hell out of others.

I already have a solution to remaining under the radar

I think this song will come to pass long before its predicted dated......glad I'll be long gone by then.

1984 and Terminator......here we come

Zager & Evans Lyrics
"In The Year 2525 (Exordium And Terminus)"

In the year 2525
If man is still alive
If woman can survive
They may find

In the year 3535
Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lies
Everything you think, do and say
Is in the pill you took today

In the year 4545
Ain't gonna need your teeth, won't need your eyes
You won't find a thing to chew
Nobody's gonna look at you

In the year 5555
Your arms are hanging limp at your sides
Your legs got nothing to do
Some machine is doing that for you

In the year 6565
Ain't gonna need no husband, won't need no wife
You'll pick your son, pick your daughter too
From the bottom of a long glass tube, whoa

In the year 7510
If God's a-comin' he ought to make it by then
Maybe he'll look around himself and say
Guess it's time for the Judgement day

In the year 8510
God is gonna shake his mighty head then
He'll either say I'm pleased where man has been
Or tear it down and start again, woah woah

In the year 9595
I'm kinda wondering if man is gonna be alive
He's taken everything this old earth can give
And he ain't put back nothing, woah woah

Now it's been 10,000 years
Man has cried a billion tears
For what he never knew
Now man's reign is through

But through eternal night
The twinkling of starlight
So very far away
Maybe it's only yesterday

In the year 2525
If man is still alive
If woman can survive
They may thrive

In the year 3535
Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lies

Lemme try this!

In the Year 2018, I'll find more gold than you've ever seen!
Rivaling Smaug's amazing stash, and even Escobar's vast hoard of cash!!

In the Year 2020, I'll be hauling in Clad a Plenty!
Not to mention all the empty cans, and towels steady off the burning sands!

In the year 2021, I bet I'll be outside having fun! Knocking doors and hunting strips, for any silver thats been missed!

In the Year 2022, I'll sign up for SSI for sure! Get my money back from Uncle Sam, living large on beans and spam!

In the year 2023, is there any metal left for me? No more silver, no more gold, wiped out by the Minelab OX user fold...

In the Year 2024, working greetings at the Walmart Store, playing Bingo at the local hall, walking indoors early at the Mall...

In the year 2025, If the Puppy is still alive, if totlots still have chips, if paper bills still exist, if flying cars infest the skies, if folks go swimming and play hard outside, if pants have pockets and fingers rings, there should be a few more interesting things...

If the Earth has nuggets and meteors fall, If sidewalks pop, water lines installed, if a house is built and another torn down, still plenty of some dirt around..... whoa whoa woe!

I had a boy , I say boy, but he was probably 35-40 , working for me a few months back. We would go to eat at lunch, and he would snap pics of restaurants name, the menu, or his food , or all of it , and post it on Facebook . He never could explain why he was doing it. I fired his ass.

lol good one:lol:

I will agree that 90% of Facebook is nothing but !!!! I can't believe people would post in public, It is more entertainment than anything else, but use right and it can be useful.

For example, I am part of our local classic car club, Dodge City Classics, and this group makes it easy to communicate with fellow members about events and such. I'm a member of a couple Drone groups that makes helping each others simple. A lot like the detecting forum, the detecting Groups are helpful.

But yeah, for the most part I find the posts on FB hilarious.

Most people don't even realize they're simply a "product" on FB, and I'd never knowingly give Zuckerberg a penny. He can ESAD.

LOL can't stop the future so might as well embrace it.

Here is a prediction someone can make some money from. You've seen those door cameras advertised that you can view on your cell right? Now we just need some crafty individual to add facial recognition to the software so, like caller ID, your phone will tell you who is approaching the door or even close by.

It's coming you watch!

I've never used Facebook, and I'm probably too old to start. But if anyone is curious, I had Bob Evans breakfast burritos for breakfast this morning, and I usually wear white socks. :)

I am sure that one of Google/Alphabet's subsidiaries is already working on it.

My wife got one of those a year or so ago. If she's not home and I leave I just write a note on a piece of paper, hold it to the camera for a minute and go on my way. That's how I text her.
