Hello all,

Sorry I've not been on much over the last few weeks. I had a chance of taking some holiday and made the most of it. I wondered as far as Sussex and visited the remains of a Roman palace and it's museum at Fishbourne. I found the four hours or so here fascinating. https://sussexpast.co.uk/properties-to-discover/fishbourne-roman-palace I also trundled along in my modern horse and cart to Butser Iron Age Village. Another very interesting place to visit! They have built Iron Age, Roman and Saxon houses which you can go in, and is perfect if you have children because you can feed the sheep and goats. If, like me, you have never really grown up, you will really enjoy it! I made friends with one of the sheep and it wanted to follow with me! http://www.butserancientfarm.co.uk/If that wasn't enough excitement, my visit to see the Mary Rose was amazing. She is now fully preserved and can be seen clearly from the viewing galleries. Some of the artefacts and personal effects that have been recovered are jaw dropping. There are plans to raise the fore and aft sections where a lot more relics of the Tudor period are hoped to be saved. http://www.maryrose.org/ I also managed to attend a surprise birthday party, catch up with some friends I had not seen for years. All in all, a good time was had.

Unfortunately, detecting took a back seat and I only managed two short sessions on pasture in the last few weeks and it is just too hot today. Here are the results.....

The Jetton is nice and early and have found one on the PAS database https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/762975

The copper alloy ring is 1700's, the silver one looks home made....

Many thanks,

b.

Hiya buddy and thank you.

I mostly recover sack seals from a Victorian mill a few miles away as the seals are in all of the fields around me. I have had a few Russian hemp/flax/wool customs seals which the Museum will record though PAS. Also a lot of guano seals turn up here.

Thanks for the links! Love that stuff. You people in the UK sure do find some great things. Congrats on the finds. Hope you get out more! GL&HH!
