Old Park Hunt. Even a Gun.

Spent the day at an old park. Was hoping to find some old silver, but only managed a Rosie.

Near the road I came across a huge iron patch with all kinds of large high tones. I dug a few just see what I was dealing with. They must have demolished a house to make the park. There was tons of glass, door hinges, pottery, bricks etc... It was pretty interesting. I pulled this old Anheuser Busch thing. Maybe a lighter or match holder. I need to do some research on that one. An awesome door lock plate.

Also this "Wire Wheel Corp" disk. If anyone knows what that is, please post.

Then I popped out this gun. It's heavy. I don't think it's a cap gun. I think it was a legitimate firearm. That's a first for me.

All in all, quite an interesting hunt. 10 bucks in change and a little pile of wheat pennies + a sterling baby's ring.

Thanks for looking.

The wire wheel corp disc looks like a hubcap cover from an old style of wheel. They were labeled left side and right side because they were threaded opposite (since your wheels spin in opposite directions on each side from the perspective of the shaft).

Thanks! That must be it. I'll need to research "House" brand. It didn't even cross my mind that it was automotive related. I was envisioning a wire wheel for stripping paint.

Old revolver frame is sweet man! I always wanted to find a 1911 I could get working again:lol: heck, who knows. Great finds, lot of variation there!

That gun looks real to me. The kind of frame you'd expect to be left when the wood handle is rotted away, and the iron portions are diminished/rusted away.

Not the kind of thing you'd expect from a park hunt (where a bit of cherry-picking is in order). A gun is the sort of stuff you typically hear about coming from relicky-hunt-site objectives.

Nice going dude !

Very cool score there, matey! About 15 years ago I watched a friend pull a little gun like that, same condition, near the site of some 19th century vacation cabins. Only the cellar holes remained. It was more derringer-like than that one. That one looks like a 32 or 22 caliber 5-shooter. Maybe even a 4-shooter. They have been made...

The number of coins you got is outstanding. Nice work! That cub scout should have been demoted for losing his neck slide. ;)

That is a beautiful hunt with all sorts of cool stuff. Did that ring not clean up good? Gosh go back and dig some more. Love the "lighter".

There were a bunch of revolvers like that in the 1870s-ish with that side mounted hammer. I'll dig around, but Forehand Arms, and Allen and Wheelock were a couple.
