Nice digs, Dan! Interesting report on the 9” IHP surrounded by nails. I’m pretty certain my current machine wouldn’t hit that coin either - I haven’t dug any coin deeper than 8” with it to date, let alone one polluted with iron. Looks like you’re getting good results so far with the new machine - I’m paying close attention
“Defiance” tag looks interesting, too. Obviously a fairly local connection...any ideas there?
As far as the tag goes. I looked up defiance carriage and found a small article on a carriage and buggy company in that particular town.
