I found this ring at a house that was built in 1869. It looks like it was gold plated at one time but the mount feels solid and the stone is very “sparkly.” 🤓

Anyone have any idea on age or type of stone?

There are no markings on the inside.

Very cool looking old ring! I'm guessing old too by the way.

Let us know what the jeweler says.

I haven't found a ton of jewelry yet but I wonder if I am under valuing some of it. I usually just assume it is worth it's silver weight but I wonder if some of the earlier 1900s ones may have a few more bucks attached because of age?

Cool ring! Definitely has the old feel. Take a look at the stone in sunlight; does it split the reflected light into a rainbow like a prism would? If so you can probably assume the stone is glass.

I took it to a jewelry store today. It’s a local place, not a chain, and the girl at the counter looked at it and suggested pink cubic zirconia. I asked about age and she wasn’t sure and showed it to the jeweler who was working working on something behind the counter. He looked at it briefly and said it wasn’t very old and that was it. He didn’t seem like he wanted to put any effort into it.

Oh well. I like it.
