Hello all,

Found this at the trunk of a big, old eucalyptus tree in Laveen, AZ. In between South Mountain and Estrella Mountains. I don't know what it is.
It has no attraction to magnet. One could only hope it is an old coin?
It was found in an area where Spanish explorers ventured back in the day.
One could only dream... Thanks for your help!

The type of corrosion/patinas/flaking seems to indicate modern alloys. Not old IMHO.

As far as being "found where Spanish explorers ventured back in the day" : Well that could be said of a million square miles of the SW USA. Like where I'm at too, I can spin musings all-day-long of explorations, spanish and mexican land grants, etc..... And I can go out all day long and find curious metal "whatzits", seeing as how, go figure, the locations are still in-use up-to-this-day.

It does have a coin appearance.
I think it is too small to be a RR squished nickel.
Best way to tell if it is silver is with a silver test.
Unfortunately You may never know what it may have been.

Get yourself a silver & gold test kit off of amazon for a few bucks to find out its composition.

FWIW, it doesn't look silver to me but I could be wrong.

For reference, here's one that I found recently which I believe could be a Spanish silver. Its definitely silver, but no way to tell if its a real or not.
