I live close to the PA - NJ border, and I often pass through Bull's Island state park in NJ while cycling. Today I stopped at the park office to ask about their policy on metal detecting (I was in my biking clothes - didn't have gear with me).

The park ranger at the desk had ZERO sense of humor about the subject, and told me that detecting was forbidden in NJ state parks, and I would be prosecuted if I tried it.

Yikes! I'm glad I live in PA!

Ya know why? They haven't come up with a lengthy, expensive application fee and Metal Detector ID card that needs to be renewed every year.
