Hi,
For users of Tect O Trak, please check the google playstore for an update.
After using the app for a few years now, I've noticed that with the accumulation of so many different coloured previously recorded tracks, it had started to look a bit 'psychedelic,' especially in search areas that I'm close to completing, Someone once joked it looked like candy crush saga! OUCH!

Here is my solution..
There is now an option to temporarily display all old tracks in a single colour of your choice, while at the same time allowing a high contrasting custom colour selection for the new track. I think you'll agree that it's an improvement and and will have its uses. It definitely makes the 'missed bits' easier to see.
HH & Good luck.

Its a great app I've used it a few times but it drains my battery and also if I'm hunting an area with no cell service its no good. Wish they had a device that you could buy separately.

I was looking for something just like this for large fields... But Android is no bueno. I wish you had it in IOS. :-(

Thx cellr.

Actually the app can work in flight mode. No data connection is required.

However.. You will need to download the required maps before you leave home!
To do this, simply mark out your intended search area. This will cache the maps for offline use. This is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. You cannot always be certain of a data connection, especially if you are going somewhere new. So be smart and pre plan the trip.

Regarding battery life. A healthy fully charged battery will last about 5 hours. this unavoidable due to the demands of GPS being 'always on' Your phones best power saving feature is its ability to sleep. This it cannot do while gps is active. The solution is simple. Take a spare!

@Blue Dog - No iOS version yet, but I am trying! There is an action group on facebook dedicated to bringing ToT to iOS. You can show your support there. :) https://www.facebook.com/groups/1569584126596648/

Tect O Trak update.

I have just reworked the 'Finds' list. There are now two parts to entering details when recording a find. You now have the option to edit, or add further info. ( ie - after research..) Only the first part which is the the short title, will be visible in the finds list. To view the full title and description, you will need to view the full sized image. Press the ' i ' button top left (full image) to toggle info on/off. To edit, long press the individual record in the finds list.
Also,

The find list image gallery now has auto rotate

The find list thumbnail is slightly bigger.

Replaced the icon used to access the find geo location cluster gallery (Finds list, top right)

Tect O TraK update Version 5.20

For users of Tect O Trak:-

I am extremely pleased to announce the latest Tect O Trak update for Android 8/9 has been published and is available via the Google playstore. This update has been a long time coming as I needed to focus on the now completed facebook group, crowdfunded, iOS version.

Nothing major added for this update as the Android OS8/9 re-code was enough work on its own! I have however added a 'Sort by' option to the finds list. I've also tweaked a few graphics, and the UI is smoother than ever!

Available here:- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.trib.app.tectotrak

ToT is now current and futureproofed. I can get back to adding new features. Map imports and overlays being high on my list of things to do.

Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. :cool3:

Tect O Trak update to version 5.25 is now published and available here.

This latest version fixes a bug caused by the android 'Oreo' software update that stopped users being able to upgrade to the supporter's version without uninstalling the free version first. Also fixed the duplicate find name bug that gave some users an error if the same find name was used twice. For example, 'Coin' or 'Buckle' or 'Button' Also I've changed the camera behaviour so that a photo can be taken in either landscape or portrait mode but ultimately resulting in same landscape orientated image ( for gallery aesthetics and continuity)

For users of Tect O Trak. You should now be running V7

Just added a great new 'Import overlay' feature. It can be used for old maps, lidar data images, or just a helpful grid. Anything... You just need a screenshot.

Thank you for your continued support and encouragement.

Happy Hunting.
