Just picked one up in .308.

Loved that it came with iron sights.


Pretty much on target right out of the box.

Just need some rings.

Have a 3x9x40 to put on.

Can't stand rifles without iron.

Drop it, hit the scope too hard the you might as well use it as a club.

Just don't put any of those ridiculous rings on it that allow you to use the irons with the scope still on the rifle. Those things are one of the worst ideas to ever be attached to a firearm.
 
Torqued the EGW base to the recommended 20 inch pounds, along with a little Loctite Blue.

Put on a pair of Weaver Rings, torqued to base at recommended 30 inch pounds.

Added the 3x9x40 and torqued the caps to 15 inch pounds.

Bore sight today.
 
Savage is a good gun, nice two stage trigger. Hope you have a lot of luck with it.

I could likely hit this scope with a mallet hard after zeroed and all would be spot on afterwards.
