300-year-old ring found in Gosberton field

FRAGMENTS of a gold ring have been uncovered in a field near Gosberton.

A treasure inquest at Spalding Magistrates’ Court on Friday heard how the
Brancaster ring was found in November.

Interesting article, but not a lot of detail. I wonder just how much of the ring was found...a picture would have helped... but thanks Alan, I really like these postings. RickO

Neat story, but it is kind of odd. Fragments of a ring?? Got to kind of wonder what had happened to it. I can see it being bent up, etc, but in fragments??

If I were that guy I'd make them show strong evidence that it really is "at least" 300 years old. If it were under 300 years old it wouldn't be treasure and the guy could keep it for himself.

May have been chopped up by a plough, or perhaps the owner chopped it up after a separation :?:

It may have been dated by a hallmark ?. I don't have any other info.
