St Leonards treasure hunter detects ring's owner after 22 years

That gentleman went to great lengths to reunite the owner with the ring, didn't he? And if he flew out to the States to personally hand it to the owner, then he went to a great expense, too!

I'm sure it gave him a wonderful feeling, though, to know his quest to find the owner of the ring had finally been accomplished after all those years of searching!

God bless him. He is truly an ambassador to our hobby!:yes:

A real Unsolved Mystery...

OK Alan, the last paragraph says...

"The only explanation came from the fact that she was a resident in England for a little while when her husband was in the American Air Force, but how it ended up there is really a mystery."

Sounds like the explanation has a little mystery in itself.

Good story - a little funny how he wrote to Pres. Bush about the ring, and expected an answer. I'm sure the president of the U.S. has lots of spare time to track down the owners of lost rings  The old guy meant well though.

It seems this type of thing (finding the owner) would be very difficult without the internet.
