Well....if that button is what I THINK it is, kind of surprising I found it at an old Michigan farm house!! (It was about a foot from an eagle general service cuff button - which disintegrated when I was cleaning it - so I'm guessing it was a veteran bring-back souvenir.

The little doggie is sterling. Not too old and it was pretty shallow (the homeowner didn't recognize it - didn't recognize the photo I texted anyway as the whole family is quarantined inside the house with fevers and dry coughs and the like....)

Lots more area at that farmhouse to detect. I only had a couple hours tonight before it got dark.

You sure found a lot of good finds on that hunt. All those wheats, buffalo, and a silver Washington and the button. I'm sure you'll find out more about it.

I like the dog. Looks like it says "far fetched" or something like that on the bottom.

Looked again, yes it says far fetched. It looks like 25 in the center. Oh, okay, duh! You said it was silver. Congrats on that great find!

That's some great hunting there T. Congrats on the shiny and all the other cool finds. That's the heaviest strike I have ever seen on a GW. Good luck, Mark

Now that you mention it, that rim sure seemed a bit prominent when I rinsed it off

Yeah, I looked up Far Fetched and it seems to be an artisan collaboration or something in California. And the button is definitely Confederate infantry.

Was gonna continue that yard but we just got the flippin lockdown order from the Governor......

Sorry I missed the original posting on this one, but I had to take a look now that you pulled two more Block I’s out of the same site for a total of 3!! This hunt would have been stellar with just the Block I, but adding in some silver, a Buff, and other goodies pushes it over the top! The GW is fabulous, but that silver pup is cool too...we just added a new puppy to the family on 3/13, so I’ve got a major soft spot for puppies right now! :D

I love seeing those intact crotal bells! Does it still have the ringer rolling free inside it?

The saw medallion is awesome too, and has some age to it - Richard Groves and his sons apparently made saws up to 1911 (and as early as the 1770s!). I found this web blog that has some good info on Groves saws...I’ll be willing to bet yours dates from the mid- to late-1800s. And, of course, I found a saw medallion a couple weeks ago...a Disston dating from between 1878-1888.
