Went back today to the park I found the transit token and Franklin Half yesterday. That park is full of canslaw and pull tabs, but there ARE good things to be found with a lot of patience. Some areas have lots of fill dirt too. I love when I can find a nice patch of that old, dark, rich soil. You know what I'm talking about? Almost black, with a lot of roots. Today didn't disappoint. Found another transit token, 1952 rosie, silver ring, and this spectacular skeleton key! I was so happy to dig it. I've always wanted a big, intact key like this. It was deep and not a solid signal at all. Regardless, I'm really impressed with the 6 inch coil. Granted, It was a large target and bounced all over the place, but that little coil told me it was there. Full depth meter. It was repeatable from all angles, but the ID bounced all over from 15 to 24 or so.

I feel a little sheepish posting this with all the Seated Halves being posted, but this key made me smile! Thanks for looking.

Edit: The key says NORWALK LOCK CO

Another awesome hunt, SW! I'm with you - as much as I love tokens, that key would have absolutely made the hunt for me! the silver ring isn't too shabby either  Those kinds of unique, more personal items are what the hobby is all about to me :cool3:

You've got me sold...I've gotta blow the dust off of my 6" coil!!

I love the old keys, especially when they've got the company name on it. Congrats. Also, as a former beekeeper, I like that beehive token.

The skeleton key is nothing to feel sheepish about, Tyler! On the contrary, that's a nice historical find. The sterling ring, silver dime, & wheat pennies are good finds, too; and that's a nice little silver ring.

Congrats on the stellar finds. Love that key!
Here’s a little history:

The Norwalk Lock Company was founded in 1865 and was located down on Marshall Street in South Norwalk, Connecticut. Having contributed to efforts during the Civil War and both World Wars, this Norwalk-based locksmith company established a name for itself with its style and turn-of-the-century hardware.

Stiffwrists,
You post some of the neatest finds, use excellent photography and superb descriptions. I'm embarassed to post my clad counts and 925/950 jewelry.
Great work. Wish i knew which park you are hunting. I'm stuck hunting closed schools due to too-many people at parks. I'm not seeing social distancing or masks.
Great finds, keep up the good work.

I just commented on your most recent post. Really impressive! I sent you a private message about this park. If you are ever over this way, its worth hitting. Its tough, but has been rewarding me lately.
