I went out to a new permission that I got this past weekend and boy am I glad that I did! The farm is many acres of tobacco fields and we covered about half of them! I invited a couple of friends to explore with me as well. We managed to cover all we could as it is currently planting season and time was of the essence. The hunt produced a whole treasure trove of finds from the recent and distant past, including my oldest coin to date! I managed to recover few colonials and some silver! They included a 1723 Hibernia Farthing and a 1787 Connecticut copper and the two Barbers, ! There was also a New Jersey copper found by my friend! There are buckles, bells, tokens, musket balls, and a tiny watch winder. There is a pipe tamper and a piece of the clay pipe also found in the same hole. I found four tokens in which three of them are for the Claremont, New Hampshire bicentennial and the fourth is from B Wards International Congress of Daredevils.
It was a very exciting weekend and I spent most of it in these fields. I made a display to showcase just some of the finds from the hunt that I won't soon forget. Unfortunately for me, I was wearing a new pair of hiking boots that gave me quarter size blisters on both my heels.
