Found this ball, it’s has a 1 inch diameter (3 inch circumference), and weighs 2.2 ounces? I’m clueless. Any ideas?

Possible, seems a little small to be case shot, canister shot or grape shot to me but I'm no expert.
Google those terms and plenty of info will pop up from many forums.

Some measurements for civil war armaments, here.

Hope it's something cool, it can be thrilling if it turns out to be great.
I found something a little larger 10 years ago in a public park and had no clue it was military, almost threw it away until I posted a pic here and I was quickly informed it was not junk but probably a canister ball...a great find.
Still one of my most cherished treasures to this day.

yea the size has me scratching my head. I search the web for about three hours. Too small for grape shot, to large to be a musket. I am trying to get it cleaner now, maybe I can find some clues. Thank you

I have a couple of those I found and was told possible milling/grinding balls.

Anything is possible, many have mistaken them for civil war relics over the years.
Someone in my club back in Kansas was thrilled when he found a large cannon ball, when it was determined it was an old shot put instead that was kind of deflating.
However I was told by many veterans on many forums that have tons of experience in civil war armaments that this is not one of those.
Also the size exactly matches the measurements of known weapon loads.
And mine was found in an area of civil war skirmishes but no mills.
If you found one like mine and think it is a grinding ball and 100% believe it I would rethink that...or at least research it a bit deeper.
You may be surprised.

Pic of the two I found. Larger one is exactly 2 pounds, smaller one is 1 pound.
