Not a detector find, but wood bullets?

These ended up in my possession as part of an auction lot. Anyone here willing to provide a little information on them? I’m just curious as I’ve never seen anything like it before. Possibly cartridges for putting nails into concrete, but that size? Old starter pistol rounds?

On Google type in "Bullets with wooden loads" and you will get quite a bit of information on the subject. Definitely an interesting find.
 
Isn't it an ash stake that kills vampires? What wood is that?:roll::lol:
