Got a couple hours in tonight in the rain. Found 2 wheats 44 and 57 or 51 looks like it was plowed. Two nickels 84 and 87 and 5 other pennies. These were my two favorite finds. I don't know what she is or was but she sure is beautiful. Thought I had my first pre 1900 silver. Almost a size of a quarter. Back looks like a mold for something, but I don't have a clue.

It's called repousse, pushing, stamping or hammering an image from the back to get a 3D relief.
Every once in awhile someone posts a coin that was used as a base for this technique, a very rare and highly sought treasure for us in this hobby.
This process was used on plenty of other things like artwork and buttons...which I believe is what you now own.
Nice stuff.

Below is a hollow 14k religious medallion I found once that illustrates this effect.

Awesome finds! That's definitely a repousse something, and a button does seem likely. Here's an example of a repousse barber dime ring I found earlier this year. 20200311_125854.jpgThe oil lamp wick adjuster is a great sign your on some older dirt. Keep up the great hunting!

Sterling Silver Cameo Repousse, probably for a Brooch of some sort. Best guess is late 1800's when they were popular. Tough to tell without a hallmark, or exact match, though.

Given that it is a "stamped" item, they could be made in bulk.
