Did some last detecting on my ex-managers property, built in the 1920's. He's sold the property off and closing is in a few weeks so off I went one last time. In the previous two? detects, I really found nothing good there, in fact I never even found a wheatie :(

Ended up with two wheaties (1955-D and a 1940 I believe) and a 1942-S war nickel that was near the 1940 wheatie. Cleaned it up a little, but it has a ways to go. When I dug it up I saw the "S" on the back so at least I knew it was a war nickel.

At this point, I'll take silver any way I can get it!

Coin-wise I also found (in clad) - 1 quarter, 1 nickel, 2 dimes and 6 pennies.

Some other odds and ends were a cheap-o car (made in China on the back), button, car key (Chrysler), and a Mary Miraculous Medal. Mine has 'sterling' stamped on the back.

Nice finds, OZ!

A suggestion - the war-time nickels clean up well by doing the following:

Soak it for 10 minutes in ammonia. Remove and then use a very soft toothbrush and mild soap to remove the loosened soil and stains. Don't scrub or rub the coin.

Good going!
