As everyone knows by now, KT runs 5 boxes of halves every week. Well, this week was not the best by volume of silver, but KT has never recovered a Ben in this quality of condition before...and in the first 10 rolls of the first box opened! It is at least XF, if not near AU, since recovered from a non-mint roll. It must have been just popped out of someone's collection as an UNC and then into the bank machine. Most of the markings on it appear to be typical bag marks. The tone is mint after all these years!

A Fine condition 64 Ken is next to it, from the same box, and it looks dirty and cruddy next to that mint fresh luster! Anyway the rest of the CRH was anticlimactic after finding those!:laughing:

Recovered 18 NIFCs, only 2 of which KT bothered to keep, 1 proof, and 1 dirty 79 that appears to have a rim delamination or perhaps a die chip capture (that's when a piece of loose metal is in the die and is stamped into the next coin minted).

Pictures of all follow, including both an obverse and reverse of the Ben and Ken, and lastly a 15X magnification of the die chip(?). From that image one can see the raised edge of that foreign metal...this is just north of the L in Liberty on the rim.

Enjoy the pics!

Beautiful Franklin there! Congrats on a fine hunt!

Man I like those silvers - pristine!

Congrats on your keepers, the Franklin is very beautiful! :clapping:

In a box of circulated dirty halves, even after all the years and boxes, His Majesty NEVER anticipated finding such a quality coin....even if it is a common date for a Bennie! Of course, KT never expected to find a Barber, some nice variety of silver commemoratives, etc. So....It is always with Great Expectations that KT gathers in the Royal Coin Roll Hunting Room to spend His idle hours with various half dollars!:laughing:

Thanks for your comments, my friends!
