X2 on the speed nuts, there are a great variety of styles and are used to hold body panels, trim parts, convertible tops, nearly every part of the car utilizes them.
They have been used for many years.

This could be a very early version of a speed nut. I'm a car guy and most automotive uses for these have the nut made of of spring steel.

This thing is at lest two pieces for brass and doesn't seem to have a working thread up the middle. It seem to have like a key hole shape.

Who knows!? :lol:

Many pieces of things we come up with are never truly get an identity. :shock:
