I had intentions of trying water hunting today, but realized that the resiviour would be packed today and didn't feel like crowds. Went to an older park that I can usually dig a few wheats from. Scored an awesome old Salt Lake City transit token. I've found a few of these, but love to find them. I like the punched out design and the bee hive. Then... I dug a Franklin half. These public parks still have treasure to give up. I was really thrilled with it. First half I've dug this year. Used a little baking soda paste and it shined up pretty good. That half was surrounded by 70s era pull tabs. I was running the 6 inch coil with a 7 recovery speed. I was able to sniff it out. Thanks for looking.

Congrats. If a Ben was the the only silver I found for the rest of the year I would be happy. (C'mon metal detecting gods....prove me wrong!!!) It's the coin I was hoping to knock off the list this year.

Love those transit tokens!

Amazing to see big silver left in a park, congrats! A great looking token as well. I have to ask did you find any Wheats too?

Just 3 today. They are the crusty looking coins next to the half. I keep going back to that park until I get skunked on wheats a few times. Hasnt happened yet!

Great to hear! The Wheats often do seem to be the proverbial "coal mine canaries" for many detecting sites. Hopeful the park will be a hotbed for years to come. HH

Congrats on the big Ben! I was finally able to cross that coin off my list this year, as well as a 1964 JFK. Big silver cant help but produce a big smile, keep up the good hunting!

Congrats on the Big Ben Stiffy. Sweet save. As others have said I just can't seem to find big silver, 1, a Walker in 5 years is it for me. The token is very cool also. Good luck, Mark

Those old SLC transit tokens are awesome. :)

Way better looking than the new ones!

And lemme tell ya... the Franklin 50-cent is on my bucket list. I just think it's one of the "cleanest" looking coins. I like the Walking Liberty for beauty, but the sheer awesomeness of Ben's face and how smooth it is, makes it a favorite for me! Plus... the bell looks good. :)

Congrats on a super fun hunt!

That and the Kennedy half are rare. Congrats.
I am surprised you haven't emptied that park of all it's signals?

This wasn't the best signal. It was amongst pull tabs. I need to do a major pull tab removal project when I have the patience. Surprisingly, I've dug more Franklin's than any other half. Must be the areas I hunt.

Thanks Skippy. I like those old transit tokens too. There are a couple variations/sizes and a square shaped child's fare one that is cool too.

Big congratulations on the Big Ben (my nemesis)
I would gladly trade you one of the two Walkers I found last week for it, would that count??
