Went back to the old church where I found an 1858 Seated quarter last year hunting the curb strip.

Well I was going back over the curb strip and found a very thin silver disc. Could hardly make out any detail at all on one side and the other is vacant.

Took a little baking soda and water and gently rubbed the surface and now I can clearly see an eagle with a shield and a banner above it. The back shows nothing.

I have a heavy duty magnifier and with it the details were a little better. I flipped it over and briefly saw what I believed was a profile facing left.

If the profile truly is there it’s a Capped Bust Half Dime. Otherwise I’d say it’s a Seated Dime.

My eyes are too poor and I’m no expert on either. Any opinions?

I’m unable to load the pictures of the magnified view. Will try as a reply

The Eagle on the reverse indicates capped bust. Now for the denomination take a measurement across the diameter and compare in the red book or similar reference guide.
The diameter of the half dime should be 15.5 mm if larger then it's a dime.

Definitely not seated, as the seated is the same reverse as the Barber.
congratulations on the Capped Bust!
