I love the thumbs up and thumbs down Emoji telling you when to dig. I need that on my detector!

I bought the midi hoard for my son. The batteries only last 15 minutes before it says they are dead. Tried multiple sets of new ones and still the same. After sitting powered off for awhile and turning back on good for another 15 minutes. Is this normal?
