Found three coins today, and something for the "help to id my find section"

George III 1797 Bronze on Copper penny - must admit, i have never even seen one of these before, its huge!

nice one jay, the penny is a cartwheel, nice find

I was not sure if the cartwheel name was reserved for the copper version that came out the same time.

I do know the 1797 date covered a few years of these coins

tell you what though, I would not fancy going for a run with loads of these in my pocket - heavy coin, thick too
 
The ‘Cartwheel Penny’ is an important coin because it was the first copper penny issued, and it featured Britannia for the first time on a British coin. It was also struck using coin presses powered by steam - yet another first.

All the same date,1797!

A good find but rarely come out of the ground in good condition.

pretty sure this one is the copper with bronze coating version, as of the straight copper version
