Had my best single hunt ever yesterday. Back to my go to spot where I found a 1899 Barber Quarter 2 days earlier. This is a spot that me and my friends (and everyone else) has hunted dozens of times last year and several times already this year. We have found many clad coins in previous hunts as well as some nice silver. We are hard pressed to find a clad quarter here any more. LOL. I have slowed my pace way down and swing the coil much smoother than I used to and am getting signals that I missed in previous hunts. The six inch coil is probably helping as not so many targets under it at any given point. I am also digging those iffy/jumpy signals I would dismiss before. Yes I am digging many bent nails but it was worth it today!
Here is a list of my finds today:
1942 Walking half 1898 Barber quarter 1915 Barber dime
1916 1919 1919 1920 1927s Mercury dimes
1953 Rosy dime and a Buffalo nickel ? date
Wheat backs 1909 1913 1917 1919 and 19?? and about a dollar in clad

In one hole I turned out the plug and saw the 1927s Merc laying there. I recovered it and checked the hole with the detector and had a 12-13 reading deeper in the hole. Using the knife and pinpointer I found a blob of dirt and broke it open- the 1916 Merc was in it. Once out of the hole it rang up as expected 25.
Later I had a jumpy signal going as high as 35, mostly between 22 and 32. I flipped out the plug and the pin pointer indicated it was in the bottom of the hole. I flipped some dirt out of the hole with my hand and saw a flash of silver. I had just scooped out the Walking half and thru it out of the hole. I could not believe what a day I was having. I stood up and re-scanned the hole and had a 27 reading on the plug. I carefully checked it and found the 1953 Rosy-just a crazy day.

In addition to the coins I also dug what I believe is a bracelet. I am going to have a friend test it to see if it is gold. It rang up at 12 or 13 on the Nox.
I also found a neat six sided dreidel that is used as a spinning top in a gambling game of Put and Take.
It was a long day (8 hours) but was sure alot of fun!

I love the pix of the silver coin reeded edge shown in the in-situ-reveal dirt clod  Those are the "come to papa" moments :cool3:

Stellar hunt, Charlie!! Excellent pictures and interesting read, too! Fantastic coins - I especially like the pics of the Barber dime, great stuff! The "put and take" dreidel spinner is awesome, too. Thanks for sharing!

Looking at all of those rusty nails, you sure put in the work and got rewarded....and then some!

Nice day! Is that a colonial gold ring? If so have you tested it? I'm thinking it could be 22k

Those are some great photos, of a truly memorable hunt! Just amazing stuff, you've got there. I can only imagine.

I have fun with rings, for sure... but to find all those silver coins. That'd be a treat!

Love digging those starter pistol rounds! Must have been a running track nearby. This post really demonstrates how many good targets can be hiding in a hammered location! Way better than most hammered locations, but it can still happen! Outstanding haul, Sir!
Found all this with the little sniper coil? Ni-i-ice!!
