Made it out this evening, after work.
After some much need rain yesterday, and today, with a nice cool down.
I did a curb strip.
The mosquitoes weren't to bad , I hunted around the corner from where I found a Morgan dollar last fall.
I've hunted this corner before only finding clad and wheats.
But tonight I dug a 1865 2 cent coin!
My second this year.
The first one I found an 1864,
came from a yard permission, about 2 blocks away.

Congrats, that thing must have been dropped very soon after it was struck. That's some very kind ground you got there in Iowa. The only one I ever found and probably will ever find was toasted, but at least I got a date.

that coin is in absolutely fabulous condition. Just a real wowzer!

1860's coinage in Iowa? Very nice! Awesome, in fact. Then I saw the photo of this 2 cent coin, and was shocked! How does that even happen? Recent coin collection loss maybe? Brand new in 1865 dropped in a puddle of oil or something? I mean, WOW! Just look at that thing!

Along with the 1865 I found last night is the 1864 I found this spring
In rich black Iowa dirt.
Thanks for the comments and looking.
