New 300i owner and new to the hobby

Received a Garrett 300i and ProPointer AT combo as a birthday gift the other day. Always had a passing interest in metal detecting, but hadn't done anything about it, now I guess I have to...

Will be looking for some help and guidance from those with more experience....
