I just couldn't resist. Against my better judgment I went down to Santa Cruz this morning. Low tide was at 7:00am and I got there around 7:15.

I parked in the pier, figuring I'd do brunch later. :) Off to the hotel side, there was a hunter with an Excal going at it. Off to the other side, by the Casino, was another hunter (who later turned out to be cearman, a friend from another forum), and beyond that, one or two other hunters in the distance. This looked grim.

So I went down the stairs and staked out an area by the first life guard shack on the casino side and started working the wet sand back towards the pier. Eventually, Cearnan got close enough that we could recognize each other. He was using a White's PI unit and was ridding Santa Cruz of all the deep iron in the beach.

I found an old silver baby ring. It was heavily tarnished but I cleaned it up a little bit. I wonder if the stone is paste or ....

I also found a 1945 S penny that looks just like a steel penny. Didn't think they made steel pennies in '45 but it looks just like one. Also found this little two-piece button. Looks military, but it is very dainty.

Thanks for watching.

Which detector are you using to fight the wet sand? I've been looking at the Tiger Shark, wifey wants to go to outer banks in a couple weeks thanks to my brother and i not going empty handed

I can use the GTI for the dry sand but i wanna get my feet wet

OH good finds by the way, me likes the button.

Hi Mega,

If I am strictly doing dry sands, I may take the MXT with the 6x4 DD coil, but if in the wet sands or surf line, I take a HeadHunter Wader. Light as a feather and can swing it for hours.
