I did some door knocking in the old part of town. Came across an old house that was ripping out the grass. The owner gave me the go ahead to detect. I always mention that I will show them what I find. I like it when the owner is genuinely interested. This guy was no exception. (I had searched the yard next door, and when I showed that owner a cool 1905 V nickel, he wouldn't even touch it. Lol.)

I was finding wheat cent after wheat cent, hoping to hit some silver. I came across a great signal and pulled this sweet watch fob from the 1889 World's Fair in Paris. I finished up and knocked on the door to show them the finds. The owner was really excited about the wheat pennies, but was over the moon when I showed him that watch fob. He mentioned that his husband collected old pocket watches. I've never had any reservations about giving the property owner any find that I recover on their land. I find just as much satisfaction giving finds to owners that are as excited about them as I am. I told him to keep whatever he'd like. I could tell he wanted the watch fob, but didn't want to say it. I told him to keep it, I just wanted some pictures of it. He seemed relieved and really grateful. I had mentioned to him that I was sure I was going to find a Mercury dime or two with all those wheat pennies. We talked for a while and then I made my way back to my car. As I was getting in, the husband came out and handed me 4 Mercury dimes from his collection. Its always a good day when you have a good hunt and make others smile too. Thanks for looking.

Also found this old plane toy too. All in all, a good afternoon.
