I don't know whether or not this is a pulley of some type for a clothesline or a barndoor? It's 5 inches long and 2 inches at its highest point. Any responses are welcome. Thank you in advance

It is interesting and does have pulleys inside.

How big is it?? 1 inch or 1 foot, or?

Take another photo with a ruler below.

looks too ornate and too small for a barn, maybe part of a dumbwaiter lift thingy or something along those lines? clothesline sounds plausible too.

The design looks possibly Victorian and at 5 inches I can see this used for cloths line.

Another wild idea is maybe it was used to raise and lower a painting or something else that hung on a wall. I vaguely remember seeing something being raised and lowered somewhere.

Figured it out?

Ok, so after some research, I think I figured this out! It's not an exact match, but very close. It looks like a lamp/ceiling pulley!

I think it's a pretty cool find!

I found it!
Antique ornate 1870's brass hanging oil lamp ceiling pulley motor for a hanging library or kitchen oil lamp fixture. Condition is very good no damage, good pulley wheels, needs cleaned and polished. Motor is 6 1/4" by 3" and hangs 23" when chains are up. Nice ornate ceiling pulley for a counter weight hanging oil lamp fixture.Posted with eBay Mobile

No problem! For some strange reason, I actually enjoy...and maybe have become a bit addicted to trying to ID peoples finds lol. I'm very good at research and well, it's a satisfaction if I can ID them...and I don't even have a detector yet lol.
