This year I have been doing good on tokens and old nickels but lately, the last 6 or 7 hunts except for one toasted Merc It seems I have been chasing alot of trash. Today I went back to the old park where I have pulled a ton of old nickels, Ihps and a few old silvers. The last time I stopped there I did not dig one good target. After two hours of crappy signals and alot of junk I finally get a 33-34 that sounds promising, Flip a 4 in. plug, I can see discolor on the bottom of plug, I scan it and get a solid 30-31, Turned out to be a wheatie on edge, OK at least I got an old coin from what I've dubbed the field of screams. After a memorial and a clad nickel my next target was a Buff. After a short break I dug a couple V nickels. Did not know the date on the 1883 until I got home. Crossed the road and swinging back to the truck I got a good signal, 26-27 and out comes a good luck token,ALRIGHT, been a while since I've dug a token. Not two minutes later I get a 23 and thought wheatie but when I saw the size I knew I had another token, when I rubbed it and saw the eagle and the word freedom I thought how fitting on such a solemn anniversary. God bless those we lost. I did have a moment, well you know . So a couple minutes later I get another 23 and out pops a rabies dog tag. The last 3 finds had to be all within the last20 min. The heat was getting to me so I called it a day, no shiny but the token made my day. At first I thought maybe a civil war token but it seems to be way more modern. The last few pics are from previous hunts. Thanks for looking in. Mark

The silver teardrop looking things could be baby spoon handles or small brush handles? Probably not, but a thought  I like the piece with the big stone in it! Some really nice finds Mark, congrats!

Those are some really nice finds but I really love that old rabies tag. Way to find some treasure in your pounded park. Congrats!
Jason, thank you. It isn't getting any easier thats for sure. HH Mark

Nice finds. Must be a large park. Wonder what those silver teardrop things are?
TnT Thank you and yes its the city's largest park and sterling was actually an earring. It rang 12-13 on the 800 and I thought it was foil at first then maybe a fishing lure of some sort. It broke as I picked it up. HH Mark

Jeff appreciate it, thanks. Sterling earring. HH Mark
Nice finds! Love that dog tag
Thank you sir, I agree, dog tags are always a nice surprise. HH Mark
wow, thats a great variety of finds. Congrats!
Thanks HH Mark

I love finding Dog Tags.. my oldest is 1910 and no where near as legible as yours !!
I have to agree dogtags are cool especially the old ones. That one is my oldest so far, before that a 1926. HH Mark

It is the year of the Nickel for you Mark. You sure have dug lots of them this year. You have also added a lot of Indian's along with some cool relics. Some very fine hunting if you ask me. Trapper

That is pretty cool.....
Thank you sir, tokens are one of my favorite finds, they bring a little piece of history back to life. HH Mark

Trapper, thank you, I have to agree the nickels just keep coming. I think hunting with the Equinox has tuned me in on mid-tones. I still get fooled by pull tabs and such but tell myself it could be a gold ring or coin. HH Mark

Awesome!
Thank you sir HH Mark

Congrats on the nice assortment of finds. By the looks of those coins, one can tell they been in the ground a long time. Well done Mark!
John, thanks pal, the ground here is pretty rough on coins so I have learned to appreciate it when I dig one with detail left on it. Yesterday I got a nice, deeper 12-13, Popped a plug, scanned and it still gave same signal, out came one of those Pgh. Railways tokens. They usually ring like a Ihp or Zinc. Nice surprise but left me scratching my head. HH Mark

Congrats on all of the finds Mark! Very fitting to find that token on 9/11. Sometimes it makes you wonder if fate plays a role in this hobby at times. Like that 1944 wheatie I found with you on the 75th anniversary of D-Day this year. I’ve never put a wheatie in a coin flip before but I did that one. I’m sure you’ll do the same with that token.

Thanks Fred, yes I believe there is some kind of strange karma going on with this hobby. For instance, just lately someone posted a dug Barber half, next it seemed a bunch were found. SLQ's same thing. I remember digging a 100 peso coin and that week there was at least 4 others posted. IDK. HH Mark
