Hmmm, went out last night... picked up a neat bracelet, stamped 926 Italy (not 925?)... is that gold, silver? Looks like a nice piece, shines nicely etc... has 4 hearts with different colored stones every inch and a half...

so, what is Italy 926???

Thanks!

Photos later, still need to figure out the macro... sigh.

Sounds like a joke in the making :) Are you absolutely sure of the numbers ? Probably silver but if you can read them differently it might be European gold marks. Steve in so az

Here is what I found. Hope it helps.

The 926 stands for Yellow 22k Gold. This is significantly different then 925 which means silver. When you see 926 on another colored ring it means that the ring was plated over with another metal. This number indicate the grade of gold on the scale of 1 to 1000. In most cases gold is alloyed with other metals, so the higher the number the higher the grade.

Thanks for that information Ikro629. Can you post a link to that info? I would love to read more about it as I too have found some items that were marked .926. Thanks......... Gold Nuggets :wave:

Hmm

Hi folks... Steve, what do you mean by reading them differently?

Also, sort of confuses me, the comment about a "when you see 926 on another colored ring it means that the ring was plated over with another metal." ?

Another colored ring?

Heck, I am easily confused. (-;

Thanks folks.
