Just over a month ago whilst out searching a field the landowner drove across the field to see me.

In the conversation he informed me he had lost his penknife over in a small wooded area where he keeps his bee's.

I called into his office on Monday and asked him come out to the location and walk me through where he had parked and what he had been working and and where.

He had been tying back wild roses when he realised his knife was missing.

He drove back down to his office.

Searching around the wild roses the machine picked up his knife just out of sight in the grass.

One knife and one very grateful landowner reunited.....job done!

Now tht is how to keep the landowners who give you your permissions happy so you can continue digging up all those Roman coins!! :cool3:

Thank you all for your kind comments and views.

Going from one extreme to another, the field over the bee hives produced my oldest coin ever.

It was a Bronze Age coin being in the latter stages of the Bronze Age around 600 BC-200 BC.

Coin was given back to the landowner for his collection.

Field is in a valley with a water source so possible a transit loss?
